Do all the dance pads work with every other game? --- "*BEEP BEEP* *WARNING* *STUPID ARGUMENT ABOUT TO COMMENCE* *WARNlNG*"-Arthur Rimbaud From: DDR MOOGLE | Posted: 11/16/2001 8:00:10 PM | Mark for Moderation There are 3really good PSX versions(import, though). Dance Dance Revolution Extra mix and Dance Dance Revolution 4th and 5th mix. About the pads, yes, they do work with every other game. --- Moogles playing ddr. Yep, thats me. So 1st mix, 3rd mix and 5th mix work with the pad. But 2nd and 4th mix don't work. USA Mix and Disney Mix semi work, but you have to use a converter... hehe --- Faye Wong -No Regrets- From: CJayC | Posted: 11/16/2001 9:01:14 PM | Mark for Moderation I think Mr. Blade is joking, as the DDR pad isn't that complex. It's not a special controller like the GunCon or anything, as it doesn't send any signals to the PS2 other than the four directions, O, X, Start, and Select. BTW, both my first and third party dance pads seem to work spiffy with US, 4th mix, 5th mix, and Best Hits. Any DDR above 3 comes down to song selection, as there's not that much feature-wise, you know? Just find a good song mix you like (there's a ton of lists on the site that contain such things) and pick from there. My personal favorite was 2nd Mix for Dreamcast, which was actually 1st and 2nd bundled together. --- Why do I feel so good about myself when I return the shopping cart to the pack? From: Twisted Silence | Posted: 11/16/2001 9:18:11 PM | Mark for Moderation My fave has got to be 3rd MIX. Why not any of the others? Because they don't have Captain Jack: Grandale Remix. That means I'm seriously biased toward them. --- Twistedkun I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave. I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down. From: Twisted Silence | Posted: 11/16/2001 9:19:48 PM | Mark for Moderation I have a pad with O, X, square, and triangle. :P It's lots of fun to play SmackDown 2 with the dance pad. --- Twistedkun I will find a center in you. One "as" the Burssels Airport. The other's "at" the Brussels Airport. Silly sig. And I was joking, you need a converter to play 5th mix as well...;) Actually I own two 3rd party pad that have serial port plugs (what away to get around copyright huh?) and you need an adapter. But they work perfectly fine. And they are wonderful. The songs on 1st and 2nd aren't really good IMO because the dance routines don't have much variety (there aren't really songs with off beat steps, galloping steps, steps that require you to keep a foot on one step, steps that force you to use your left foot to hit the right arrow and vice versa, stuff like that). 3rd mix is when most of the best features were put in (better arrow timing, vivid arrows, darker/less distracting backgrounds, character selection, the ability to switch the difficulty in the middle of a song set, etc.). I wouldn't suggest USA mix or Best Hits because those have mostly 2nd mix songs. Umm yeah. . . Home pads suck. Mod them, buy a hard pad, or play it at an arcade. --- Join the "Have You Never Been Mellow DDR club" today! From: phoenix OMEGA | Posted: 11/17/2001 12:30:47 AM | Mark for Moderation Not doing it in an arcade, so the home stuff will have to do. What do you mean they suck? They don't work well? What does modding do? What's a hard pad? --- "*BEEP BEEP* *WARNING* *STUPID ARGUMENT ABOUT TO COMMENCE* *WARNlNG*"-Arthur Rimbaud From: SprigganRiot | Posted: 11/17/2001 12:48:45 AM | Mark for Moderation Home pads aren't that good because they move around too much. It's horrible doing harder songs on them. With catastrophic songs, by the time the song is over the pad is 5 feet away from where it was originally. Home pads are pretty fragile, too - you obviously can't wear shoes on them. They're also kinda slippery. Any DDR expert would tell you that the arcade is the best place to play. Modding a home pad basically makes it so that it doesn't slip and is durable enough to wear shoes on (just like the arcade!) There are a couple of sites that explain how to do this. . . I don't know any off hand, though. A hard pad is just that- a hard pad. I've never tried them, though. They're supposed to be just like the arcade pads.
