Sony says that PS3 demand isn't low and explains why PS3 is readily available

Sony spokesman Dave Karraker said the company is airlifting more than 100,000 systems into the United States every week, which is why units can be found at retail.

"It isn't because demand has weakened, it is because we have kept the supply pipeline moving," Karraker said.

That's funny, I'd like to see the paperwork for those blue diodes and Cells. I didn't think they made enough for that kind of number, unless Sony has contracted the Martians.

ROFLMAO.

That's pretty sad, although TBQH it's a no win situation. Either they make up some wild fabrication tha teveryone knows is BS or they say the truth (that the thing isn't selling) and pretty much admit they ****ed up.

Ya know, PBM, I usually don't like to label people in this board (at least not seriously), but you always claim to be unbiased, yet I see you defend Sony and their statements more than anything. That comes across as pretty, well, toolish. I'm sure you get that all the time, but I just don't think you're as unbiased as you claim.

This month, the PS3 has to sell about 500K in the next NPD to be credible.

When a retailer orders a system, it is shipped to their main warehouses. So not all of the systems the retailers get will be shipped to their stores around the nation. However, for Sony, a system shipped to a retailers main warehouse counts as a system sold even if the retailers hasn't put that shipment in their stores yet.

Which is why you can't trust Sony's "sold" numbers.

Hm... by that statement, I'm going to make this assumption:

We've have exactly 2 PS3's on hand at my WalMart for the last 3 weeks. Nobody buys them when I'm there during the day. Therefor, one must hypothesize that PS3's are only selling like hotcakes at night when I'm not working, and 2 more magically reappear when I get to work the next day.

In all seriousness, we've had more returned since Christmas than we've sold.

Considering how much of a buzz word 'shipped' is at Sony, I'm surprised they used the word 'airlifted'. Perhaps, these aren't even being sold to retailers.
