think about it ps3 only sell 300,000 and wii sell one million but think about it. ps3 sell for 600 and wii sell for 250 that means that every ps3 sold they make a ton more than every wii sell. so in reality it means that ps3 make more money and they have some ps3 on shelves while wii has none on shelves. no one can buy wii while they can buy ps3 so that means sony gets more sells and will won by the end of next year.

I work at a gaming store and a customer came in the other day, whos a regular, and he basically buys and sells rare games online for a living. He mentioned that sony will have to sell about 6,000,000 ps3's just to break even from how much they lose per system. I dont know how acurate that is, but considering the price of a blu-ray drive, I wouldnt doubt it...

FOOLS! You're all forgetting that there are TWO versions of the PS3. Sure, they sold 300,000 units, but how many of them 20gig, and how many are 60gig? I think you'll find that there's going to be a very different price, when you take that into consideration.

Lets assume they sell 5milion systems in that time period and an AVERAGE loss of about $125(Assuming again). If you do the math that is a loss of 625million. That 625million needs to be made up from SEC game sales and future system sales(Assuming they still profit from a system sale at w/e price range). Im guessing that off of system sales alone assuming they will eventually profit from a system sale it will be 4 years or more down the road that the system will break even.

In my opinion, Sony will never make a profit from selling a PS3 system because of the cost of the Blu-ray and Hard Drive. By the time that Sony can produce a PS3 for $600 breaking even, the price of 360's and Wiis will be anywhere from $300-$150 and possibly forcing Sony to lower the price of the PS3 to keep up with the current market price.

TC, Wii controllers are cheaper then PS3 controllers. If you get a Wiimote Nunchuk combo, then you get way more for just 10 bucks. And Nintendo gets money from every system sold; Sony loses a bunch on every PS3 sold. And both systems are out of stock dude. Plus, Nintendo has way more units then Sony. By the looks of it, you have not won. (as someone else said)

I don't believe that Sony deliberately made a shortage in order to spread out the per system launch. It is possible they intended shortages in order to increase hype for the system by the sold out status making people think it is in demand, but if so I think the shortages are more than they wanted, due to the well known production problems.

1. (300,000)(600) = 180,000,000 and (250)(1,000,000) = 250,000,000 and 250,000,000 > 180,000,000. So you are wrong. Wrong and wrong still, always, and forever.

2. Nintendo makes slight profit on each Wii, lets say its at the very small margin of $0.01/Wii
That means (1,000,000)(.01) = 100,000 of profit. Not bad. Lets look at Sony, they lose $250 on each console so that means (300,000)(-250) = -75,000,000. Interesting.

3. This is of course assuming in #1 all of Sony's console were the $600 version not the $500 version (I dont know what the percentage of the two were to one another). Which, giving you the benefit of the doubt and all...YOU ARE STILL WRONG. Also in #2 I am assuming that Nintendo is making a cent profit on each Wii, it could very easily be a whole dollar or more which would raise their profit to a million completely blowing Sony, who lost SEVENTY-FIVE MILLION, out of the water.
