One day, the GameFAQs administration is going to have to
From: ImHotterThanYou | Posted: 3/28/2006 5:21:01 PM | Message Detail
come to the realization that video games are not designed for 13 year olds. Most games coming out nowadays come rated M and have cussing, drug use, nudity, and as always, violence.

I really can't see why #1, the administration is so blind to the fact that you can hardly even go into detail about some games or talk freely about things that are in the similar category and #2, the mods are so sheepish that they blindly follow the absurd rules and even get to the point of going overboard.

GAMES AREN'T FOR LITTLE KIDS ANYMORE!!!!

Yes they are. Games are still for kids, but now they're also for adults as well.

Still, the industry is driven by kids, no point in denying it.

Ah yes. The obligatory "no harm, no foul" statement by a moderator. Of course.

I'm just sick and tired of users complaining about being allowed to post here with the current rules. It's about 100x less stringent than it was when I signed up, and frankly we made do. You want to have a softer TOS, then try finding a site that doesn't have financial backing of sponsors and a corporation making it teen friendly.

I have a 4-year old son. He's obsessed with Halo (and actually quite good at it). I decided that Halo was a little much for a 4-year old and took it away from him. Instead, I tried replacing it with a game more suitable to his age. Guess what? THERE AREN'T ANY! In my day, I was pounding DK like a pro, but now, all the rated E games blow worse than a hurricane. I got Sponge Bob: Lights, Camera, Something for him and he literally got bored with it 30 seconds into the first level.

Rated T and M games are the only games that make any money and if it's okay with the parents for the kids to play them, then they should have any problem with (GASP) TEXT!

quick question to moderator:

Is there a way I (or you) could check how much longer my main is suspened? It's Omnieval. And this waiting seems to have gone on for quite a while.
From: ImHotterThanYou | Posted: 3/28/2006 5:33:02 PM | Message Detail
See what I mean? That's the definition of sheep (kind of).

Are the sponsors THAT ignorant to think that if there's a teenager wasting his time on a message board, then he's also found his way into every corner of porn on the internet? You can have a dot-com business and think that teenage kids aren't going to go places and do things they aren't supposed to do. That's so ****ing stupid.

ImHotterThanYou :

Next time get a Nintendo product. Nintendo games (IMO) are more "kid-friendly".

for example: the Donkey Konga (?) game, Mario Party, Mario Sunshine, etc.

For a kid growing up, Nintendo would be more appropriate and amusing, then a Playstation or X box (IMO).

My point is that this website exsists because of harder, more mature games. Obviously there isn't a need for a FAQ for easy kids games, meaning that this site is designed for more mature users. Users that are exposed to the very thing that this site is trying to protect them against in most of the games that they play.

I fail to see where the GameFAQs Administration is at any fault regarding games and 13 year-olds. Unless you mean the age limit for forum accounts. If that's what you mean, please read the help files.

"Thanks to COPPA, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, we cannot collect information (such as an e-mail address) from any user under the age of 13 without a parent's permission. The amount of paperwork and tracking required to prove the identity of the parents is substantial, and could increase costs so much as to cause the site to shut down. You'll find that most video game sites, and indeed, most web sites in general, have the exact same restriction."

But should you mean something other than the age limit for forum accounts, ignore this post in it's entirety.

Most of those "E" games aren't ones that generally attract children.

Man, CJay. You post like every other people on this board... Taking one (or two) pieces of my argument, contradicting them, acting like it invalidates everything I've stated.

Do you honestly think that this blatant over sensorization is doing anything good? If anything, it's pissing off more users (your revenue makers) than opening the TOS would piss off the stupid soccer moms.
